Today I’m going to share my newest flea market find.
We were walking through a flea market in Missouri and I spotted an old oil can with a moveable spout in the back corner of the store.
Carson has a pretty good idea of what things are the moment that he sees them but we like to play a little game where he guesses what it is before we look on the tag. He’s usually right! (Don’t tell him that I told you that )
So today I spotted this item and thought it was so neat because the spout goes up and down with a lever. It also works perfectly.
I’ve never seen anything like it before. Carson immediately said that it was an old oil can and, of course, he was right.
It’s a Huffman One gallon oil can with swing spout and a thumb release.
We googled it and found out that it was bigger than the usual ones sold online. The one we found was a one gallon oil can. The ones online are usually a quart or 1/2 gallon.
I actually found an old article from the January-June 1933 issue of the Automobile Digest that shows it was new equipment for car garages to use to pour oil. It is spill proof due to the ridges on the spout. The article below talks all about it.
Isn’t that cool!!! I love finding old things but I really love the history behind them.
I actually have the oil can for sale in my shop. You can purchase it here.
I consider this oil can to be a favorite flea market find.
